For Schools

Pin Cushion

At the Woodbridge Center Mall this November 6 & 7, colleges, high schools, middle schools, elementary schools, clubs, and parent/teacher organizations from across New Jersey are partnering with local clothing drives as part of this one-of-a-kind sustainable clothing recycling event.  Participating classes and school groups will earn credits toward raffled gift certificates and can earn taxpayer credits for their town.

Participants are also invited to volunteer at the event and join the on-site press conference.  Last Springs event helped scout and school groups be spotlighted on media such as News 12 and the Home News Tribune.

The Re-Purpose New Jersey (RNJ) program will save your school thousands of dollars each year by removing clothing, shoes and other textiles from being dumped in open landfills along the Raritan River.

For this campaign, we ask nothing from you except to use small, underutilized areas on your properties to place our clothing donation bins. This unique program costs nothing for your university or college, yet the cost savings are extraordinary.

For universities and colleges, textiles compose nearly 6 percent of waste. Considering landfill costs average $60 per ton, the costs can add up quickly for a university with over 20,000 students. Those costs skyrocket even more at the end of each semester, when extra clothing, shoes and bedding are haphazardly disposed at even greater proportions in the waste stream.
